How Long Does It Take To Settle A Personal Injury Claim?
Clients ask quite often, “How long is my case going to take? What’s going to happen at the end of my case? Is it going to be a case that settles, is it going to be a case that goes to trial?”
One of the most important objectives in every single lawsuit is to prepare that case as if it’s going to go to trial. When a case is prepared to go to trial, the other side understands it’s ready to go to trial, all the witnesses depositions have been taken, the defenses raised by the defendants have been stricken, the liability aspects of the case have been proven up, the damage aspects of the case have been proven up, that’s when a case is in a position to settle, if it’s going to settle, assuming there’s going to be a reasonable offer from the other side.
That’s when a case will settle. Could be a year, could be two years, could be three years. Depends upon the complexity of the case.
